Editorial Policy

Radiology Prime’s Editorial Policy sets the standards governing all clinical content on this platform. Every clinical piece is reviewed and approved by our Clinical Lead, a European-registered consultant neuroradiologist with sub-specialty focus in neuroradiology, before publication. Editorial decisions are made independently of advertising, sponsorship, and commercial partnerships.

Scope and purpose

This Editorial Policy defines the standards, processes, and governance principles that apply to all content published on the Radiology Prime platform. It covers content selection, editorial oversight, author eligibility, independence from commercial influence, the management of conflicts of interest, the use of AI-assisted tools, and the process for corrections and updates.

This policy applies to all published material including articles, service descriptions, clinical educational content, sub-capability pages, FAQs, and any other written material accessible to users of the platform. It is maintained by the editorial team in collaboration with our Clinical Lead and reviewed periodically to reflect changes in best practice, clinical standards, and publishing guidelines.

Detailed workflows for the clinical review process are described separately in our Medical Review Process. The credentials and independence standards of our reviewing radiologist are described on the Clinical Lead & Medical Review page.

Content selection and scope

Content topics are selected based on their relevance to patient education, clinical decision-support, and the specialist neuroradiology second-opinion service provided by Radiology Prime. Priority is given to content that directly addresses the questions and clinical concerns raised by patients seeking a sub-specialty second opinion on MRI or CT imaging of the brain, spine, or head and neck.

All clinical content must fall within the platform’s six neuroradiology sub-capabilities: neuro-oncology, demyelinating diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, congenital anomalies of the brain and spine, head and neck imaging, and vascular diseases of the head, neck, and spine. Topics outside this scope — including musculoskeletal, urology and gynaecology, cardiothoracic, breast imaging, and emergency presentations — are not within the remit of the platform’s clinical service or its educational content.

Topics with direct implications for patient understanding of imaging findings, second-opinion processes, or treatment discussions are reviewed with additional clinical care prior to publication. Topics are excluded where the available evidence base is insufficient to support accurate and responsible communication, or where publication would not serve the informational interests of the intended audience.

Editorial oversight and review

All content published on this platform is subject to editorial review before publication. The editorial team is responsible for the overall quality, accuracy, consistency, and compliance of all published material with this policy.

Content with direct clinical relevance — including all articles, educational resources, sub-capability pages, service descriptions, and FAQs — is reviewed and approved by our Clinical Lead before publication. As the platform’s reviewing radiologist and the sole sub-specialty neuroradiologist on the editorial team, our Clinical Lead carries final clinical responsibility for the accuracy and framing of every piece of clinical content the platform publishes.

As the platform’s reviewing team grows, additional sub-specialty reviewers will be added to the clinical review process under the same standards. Any addition to the reviewing team will be disclosed publicly on the Clinical Lead & Medical Review page.

The full clinical review workflow is described in our Medical Review Process.

Author eligibility and qualificationsQualifications

Content with clinical implications may only be produced or substantively contributed to by individuals who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Verified medical, scientific, or clinical qualification relevant to the subject matter
  • Active professional standing within a recognised medical or academic institution
  • Demonstrated familiarity with evidence-based clinical communication standards
  • Compliance with the conflict of interest declaration requirements set out in this policy

Authors are required to provide source references for all clinical claims. Content produced using AI-assisted tools remains the editorial responsibility of the qualified human author or reviewer who approves it for publication. See the AI-assisted content section of this policy for full details.

Conflict of interest policy

All individuals contributing to the editorial and clinical review process are required to declare any relationships that may represent a potential conflict of interest prior to reviewing or approving content for publication.

Declarable relationships include:

  • Employment, consultancy, or advisory relationships with Radiology Prime or competing platforms
  • Financial interests in products, services, or organisations referenced in the content under review
  • Academic affiliations or research funding relationships with direct relevance to the content topic
  • Personal relationships with individuals or organisations referenced in the content

Declared conflicts of interest are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the editorial team. Where a conflict is considered manageable, it is documented and disclosed in association with the relevant content or reviewer profile. Where a conflict cannot be adequately managed, the relevant individual is recused from that review.

Active conflict of interest declarations are maintained as part of the clinical governance framework and are reviewed when an individual’s circumstances change. All declarations are made in accordance with the standards outlined in our Clinical Governance & Professional Standards.

Our Clinical Lead’s professional consulting arrangement with Radiology Prime is publicly disclosed on the Clinical Lead & Medical Review page in line with this policy.

Editorial independence

All editorial decisions — including content selection, clinical review, and publication — are made independently of Radiology Prime’s commercial activities. Advertising relationships, sponsorships, and commercial partnerships have no influence over which topics are covered, how content is framed, or what conclusions are drawn.

No content is published, modified, or removed in response to commercial pressure. This independence extends to the editorial team, all contributing authors, and our Clinical Lead.

Our Clinical Lead is responsible for upholding editorial independence in the clinical review process. Any attempt to influence a review decision on commercial grounds must be reported to the editorial governance lead and is recorded in the governance log.

Corrections, updates, and retractionsand Retractions

We are committed to maintaining the accuracy and currency of all published content. All content is subject to periodic review, and updates are prioritised based on the clinical significance of the material and the magnitude of any change in the relevant evidence base.

Minor corrections
Typographical errors, broken links, and minor factual inaccuracies that do not affect clinical meaning are corrected promptly without annotation. The date of last review is updated accordingly.

Significant corrections
Where a factual error, outdated clinical information, or materially misleading statement is identified, the relevant content is reviewed by our Clinical Lead, corrected, and annotated with the date and nature of the correction. Priority is given to corrections with direct implications for patient understanding or clinical discussion with their treating physician.

Retractions
Where content cannot be corrected to meet clinical accuracy or ethical standards, it may be retracted and replaced. Retracted content is removed from publication and a notice is maintained in its place confirming the retraction and the reason for it.

Readers who identify errors or have questions about specific published content are encouraged to contact us directly. All correction requests are logged, assessed by the editorial team, and responded to within a reasonable timeframe.

AI-assisted content: oversight and verificationntent: Oversight and Verification

AI-assisted tools may be used to support the drafting, structuring, or summarisation of content on this platform. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and approved by a qualified human editor or our Clinical Lead before publication.

AI tools do not make editorial or clinical determinations. All publication decisions — including the assessment of clinical accuracy, appropriate framing, and suitability for the intended audience — rest with a qualified human reviewer at all times.

Content produced with AI assistance is held to the same editorial and clinical standards as content produced by human authors. The use of AI tools does not reduce or transfer the editorial or clinical responsibility of the reviewing professional.
